The Challenge:
To save costs on product development, the client requested AT Software to implement a mini-driver, which will secure an uninterruptible power supply for Windows family operating systems according to Microsoft specifications. The driver should work in Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows XP. This uninterruptible power supply can be connected either to a serial or USB port.
The Solution:
With forward extended functionality, the driver was developed in several stages as described below:
1. The prototype with base functionality for Windows XP and serial port;
2. The full-function prototype for Windows XP and serial port;
3. Beta version for Windows XP works through serial and USB ports;
4. Beta version for Windows 2000 works through serial and USB ports;
5. Driver release
