The Challenge:
The idea to produce an integrated network security, monitoring and information infrastructure came up as a tentative request from an undisclosed client company. The client required complete control of employee use of network resources, as well as report tracking and network policy enforcement.
The Solution:
In the course of this project, our team created an integrated infrastructure that included publicly available tools along with our unique report-generating systems and controlling mechanisms. These together allowed the system administrator to define security rules and to monitor user activities. The system includes web proxies, NAT and firewall systems, accounting software, database backends, report generators, etc.
Approach
Technical discussions and planning were carried out by representatives of the client's technical and management teams, the project manager of our Finnish partner and the AT Software team leader. Our team in St. Petersburg, Russia handled the actual coding, integration and testing. The initial team size was only four people, but as the client's needs changed during the course of the project, this was expanded to include as many as fifteen people.
