The task of the customer was to implement a unified multi-service network on the basis of packet data transfer and IP-protocols. One of the requirements was to implement a telephony service that is to use a unified packet network as a transport backbone, and to connect the digital PBX with EDSS-1 protocol.
AT Software has developed Nikel-TE network system that is a Distributed Telephony Exchange. It consists of multiple EDSS-1/IP gateways connected via TCP/IP.
The distributed telephony exchange converts voice data between circuit-switched EDSS-1 part and packet-switched TCP/IP part with RTP/UDP protocol and G.711/G.729a codec algorithms, as well as provides standard PBX features.
Distributed telephony exchange supports brand Lanit-Tercom PBX O&M software as well as remote network management with SNMP protocol.
