Softelcom USA
With the emergence of an increasing number of enterprise portals, various vendors have created different APIs for portal components, called portlets. This variety of incompatible interfaces generates problems for application providers, portal customers, and portal server vendors.
The challenge was to choose a portal platform to implement SOFTELCOM solution. It should provide personalization, content aggregation, Web-component approach, single-sign-on, user management, security, administration, etc.
The primary goal of this project was implementation of SOFTELCOM solution as a portal application.
AT Software offered the Portlet Specification (JSR-186). The portal was implemented as a set of portlets which are Java-based Web components managed by a portlet container. The container processed requests and generated dynamic content. Portlets were pluggable user interface components that allowed to customize user interface. Portlets could be easily deployed to any portlet container compatible with the specification. Java portlets provided interoperability between portlets and portals.
Now, SOFTELCOM is an integrated solution for multi-channel information support, training and monitoring team's performance at their workplaces - in call centers, sales offices, brokerages, and dealerships. This solution works in real time, it is very scalable and easy to administer. It includes tools to analyze the effectiveness of searching and to make reports on use of information. It allows easy adaptation of promotions, marketing materials, and other content to ever changing market conditions.
